Lesson Learned
The problem with positive
If you walk up to people and say, “Come on, be positive!” most people will tell you shove it. In fact, research shows that if people continually tell themselves to be positive they tend to react poorly when something bad happens. It can actually be a self-defeating concept. There’s a lot of speakers out there telling you to be positive. But people don’t need to be transformed. They just need to change their trajectory a little bit. Let’s just make a simple shift. Take a couple steps in the direction you want to go.
Shifting your perspective
Many of us are in survival mode right now. And Chris thinks what we need is something to believe in. We need to drive from the heart. We need to be good to people. The best way to do that is to concentrate on what is and isn’t useful. Is this person useful? Is it not? Is this situation useful? Is it not? Those questions will guide you to realizing the things thare really important.
The importance of gratitude
Gratitude leads to greater things. The most important words are the ones you say to yourself on a daily basis. What do you say about yourself? About others? Try to change that internal dialogue to a language of gratitude.
